WORLD HEALTH DAY 2021

  • Wednesday, April 07, 2021

World Health Day is celebrated on April 7 every year. Since its inception in 1948 and its implementation in 1950, the day is aimed at raising awareness with regards to mental health, maternal and child care and climate change. Usually, the World Health Organization (WHO) decides on a specific theme or area of concern to focus on, a decision influenced by world events. This year, with social inequality making itself even more apparent with the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, World Health Day is going to focus on how some people are able to live healthier lives through access to better health services entirely due to the arbitrary conditions to which they are introduced when they are born. Obviously, this works vice versa, with many people being born into conditions where they need to struggle against low daily incomes, poor housing conditions, a lack of opportunities for education and limited access to health services. Hence the theme of social inequality.

The Knowledge School campuses all over Pakistan celebrate this day with activities that serve to spread awareness about the important aspects of global health. The hope is that celebrating this day will create awareness amongst country leaders about monitoring health inequities and ensuring that all parts of our population have access to quality health services regardless of the circumstances they are born in.
