60 TKS CAMPUSES ATTEND SNC TRAINING SESSION

The Knowledge School (TKS) Head Office (HO) held a training session on the 21st of August at the University of Management and Technology, Lahore, on how to incorporate the Single National Curriculum (SNC) in teaching practices and books. The session included speeches by key figures in TKS and also featured presentations and hands-on training by external, international trainers. A resounding success, the session was attended by 60 TKS campuses from across Pakistan.

The TKS HO has always put the interests of its students before all else. Fully understanding the role that they can play in shaping the country’s future through the young minds that they have an opportunity to influence positively, no step is taken by the core team at the TKS HO without a thorough understanding of the consequences for its vast student body. In this regard, the TKS HO holds continuous training sessions throughout the academic year to ensure that the faculty in their numerous campuses are kept abreast of developments in the field of education. With the advent of the SNC, a step by the government of Pakistan to ensure that the teaching imparted in all institutions across the country conforms to a baseline standard, regardless of the modus operandi of the institution itself, the TKS HO recognised this development as being the biggest one yet. With the potential of the SNC to completely change the landscape of the education system in Pakistan, the TKS HO took immediate steps to address the situation to guarantee that its faculty was not only aware, but well-versed in, the new teaching methodologies, in turn securing the academic future of TKS students.

The session began with a welcome note by Director TKS Mariam Nur Murad, in which she assured TKS faculty of the support of the HO. She was succeeded by Deputy District Officer Kasur Surryia Farooq, who explained in great detail the need for the SNC in removing social stratification, after which the floor was opened up for a question and answer session involving the participants of the training, Mrs Surryia Farooq and TKS Head Academics, Training and Quality Assurance Dr Farah Naz. The Q&A session was followed by a presentation and a training session by Dr Farah Naz, in which she revealed the new vision for the TKS academics team.

After a lunch break, the training began in earnest. Trainers with international renown engaged for the sole purpose of instructing TKS faculty on the incorporation of the SNC in schools delivered presentations subject-wise. Subsequently, the participants broke up into groups and were led to various rooms where the trainers conducted hands-on activities to complete the edification of the participants. The session closed with remarks by Dr Farah Naz, who passionately spoke of the need for change and how it was in everyone’s best interests to pave the way for the SNC and to ensure compliance with it.

Participants were pleased and considerably heartened by the steps taken by the TKS HO in this regard, with many appreciating the training session and commending the academics team and Dr Farah Naz on their endeavours. With many fears alleviated, the session strengthened the bond between the TKS HO and its campuses and imparted new knowledge to the TKS teaching staff.
