World Oceans Day is celebrated on 8 June worldwide. This day provides us an opportunity to honor, help protect, and conserve the ocean. The impact of human actions on marine and terrestrial natural resources has increased the degradation rate of marine and coastal ecosystem. On 6 May, 2019, a UN report on ‘Nature’s Dangerous Decline ‘Unprecedented’; Species Extinction Rates ‘Accelerating was published by the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) which states that about 66% of the marine environment have been significantly altered by human actions which is more than a third of all marine mammals. This year, the Day will convene under the theme, 'Innovation for a Sustainable Ocean'.
On this day, let’s promise each other to protect marine life and don’t throw trash on beeches or in the oceans.
